Press Release
With Whisperers by Lito Kattou (Cyprus, 1990), Corpo Celeste begins: a new exhibition cycle within Project Room, the “observatory” project of Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro dedicated to developments in the international art scene. This year, the project is entrusted to curator Chiara Nuzzi (Naples, 1986).
Inspired by the essay collection of the same name by writer Anna Maria Ortese, and by her attempts to “restore to reality the meaning of belonging to another reality, greater and unknowable,” Corpo Celeste unfolds through two solo exhibitions: the first dedicated to Lito Kattou, and the second, scheduled for September 2023, to Paul Maheke (France, 1985). In both exhibitions, sculpture becomes a tool for constructing other bodies, hybridized with matter, nature, and the animal world, in order to inhabit new worlds.
Whisperers is Lito Kattou’s first solo exhibition at an Italian institution. Her research is influenced by the natural, social, and political context of the Mediterranean…
